The Bunny, Chillin, & Strawberries

The Bunny. Oh, the Bunny. It's name: Hoppy.  Justin "found" Hoppy at school.  Actually, a bird dropped it right in front of him while walking into school.  It ended up coming home with him. Olivia and Isaac LOVED, LOVED it. 

We fed it. And they played with it. 

Which brings us to this picture. While watching it in the kitchen, the kids said Hoppy was in the corner and then just 'hopped into the cabinet'. Had it really just been in the cabinet, that would be easy. It actually hopped UNDER the cabinet.  After much contemplation, Justin says, "Well, I know what I have to do." And he did. Started with taking out the nice boards he recently replaced under the sink.

And then drilled holes and sawed the wood under the cabinet.  But alas, there were TWO pieces of wood to cut, one for each cabinet. 

If you look close, you can see the bunny in the far corner.  With a toilet plunger stick (never used on toilets) he was able to "rescue" the bunny. The kids enjoyed him a few more days after that. Justin let Hoppy go in a field after seeing him take a turn for the worse. RIP.

He never uses a pacifier, but here he is taking a break from playing with dad. (Tara, his thumb is now raw from sucking it so much!)

He wanted to sleep on the bean bags J brought home from school.  This is how I found him.  I probably would not have chosen that way, but looks like he was comfy enough to drool.

I let them do dishes for real by themselves.  All I did was dry and put away. And if we eat off a little crusted-over gunk, then so be it.

We went to the pick-it-yourself place again. This time for strawberries.

This is in here only because it shows Elias is standing by himself!  And he can bend down, turn around, and walk IF he really wants to.  And that's if he REALLY wants to.

His bucket stayed empty the whole time after he realized that he could eat the berries and not just throw them in the bucket like Easter eggs.

Goodbye Kindergarten

Although I am SUPER excited to have Olivia home everyday all day, it was kind of nice (in a weird way) to hear that she was not overly excited to begin summer (meaning she loved kindergarten!).  She said the thing she would miss most was her friends.  Here is one of her best friends, Jenna, at Field Day.

 Her and Jenna won 1st place in the egg throwing contest. Even though their egg never broke, it could have something to do with Jenna getting nailed with an egg in the head and having it ooze down her hair (no fault of Olivia). Either way, they got 1st!  The picture however is of the gym teacher walking by the long line of kindergartners with a shield as each one of them aimed for the target with their own egg.

 Field Day sack races.  Good in theory, but the sacks were a little too big for Olivia's liking and after a couple hops she quit the race.  I'm not one for quitting, but in this case, I believe it was the right choice, for many reasons. :-)  We'll try again next year....and maybe even practice at home with pillow cases first!

Kindergarten Night. She made herself. We also watched a slideshow of the year in review.  I tried really hard not to cry.  I was amazed at how attached I felt to some of the other kids in her class too.  It was a blessing being able to participate in so many activities this year. (Thanks G&G!)

We now have an official "grader".  1st grader that is!

HAPPY BIRTHDAYS

 It may not look like it, but this is the start of my birthday. May 3. Only on my birthday are the kids allowed to eat out of the ice cream container for breakfast with me. :-)   

 Then we went to storytime and played at a park.

 My parents came over and we had a great salad dinner. It even had roasted caramelized pecans on it. Delicious and just like it was from Aubreys.

I wanted a salad and then eat a pint of coffee heath ice cream all myself. The entire thing with no comments! Yum!

Then we all got to go see Isaac play tball.

J and I got to hike House Mountain after work the day before my birthday. We walked right past a nasty black snack moving on a rock almost level with my head. NOT COOL! But it was still a very pretty hike and view.

 And then Olivia had a birthday. May 11. Donut breakfast. We should have stacked 6 donuts for the candle!

 Oh the happiness!

 Olivia has been wanting to go swimming. So we went. She was all smiles the whole time. And I'm a HUGE fan of the connected chest/arm floaties they had at the pool for the kids to use.

 Afterwards we went to G&G's house. The May birthday girls.

 Mom brought home this cool birthday hat, only Olivia didn't want to wear it. But it will get used for the next 10yrs at all birthday celebrations I'm sure.

 She got these rubberband copters. 

Elias was just hanging on for hugs. Isaac's rocket was going the wrong way when he let go. He really didn't mind doing his thing with Elias on his back.

 She gave all her flowers to Grandma.

Grandaddy and Judy also stopped by to give her a present.

We are so thankful for Olivia. Our lives are better because she was born! It's crazy how fast time goes.

Ain't She A "Daisy"

So proud of Olivia for her bravery today during Daisy's (Girl Scouts).  She had to present her project in front of all of the girls and parents in her troop by herself.  The project was called "Red Robin Project".  Each girl had to choose an animal and talk about how to care for it.  Olivia made a book about how to care for bunnies.  My little girl is growing up (wiping a tear now).
